Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), one of the oldest and fastest-growing educational institutions in Pakistan, is seeking applications for the prestigious position of Registrar (BPS-20) on a tenure basis. As a chartered university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), SMIU boasts a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1885 as a school, later evolving into a university in 2012.

Position Overview

• Post: Registrar (BPS-20)
• Tenure: 3 years, extendable as per university rules
• Maximum Age: 55 years
• Qualification/Experience:
• Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree from an HEC-recognized institution
• At least 17 years of experience in administration at a senior level in either a government or educational institution
• Preference for candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience as head of department at the BPS-20level or equivalent

Job Description and Responsibilities

Ensuring compliance with the provisions of the University Act, statutes, regulations, Senate & Syndicate decisions, and legal orders.

Custodian of the university’s common seal and managing the university’s daily affairs in coordination with all departments.

Monitoring and supervising all academic, administrative, law & order, and discipline-related functions.

Secretary to statutory bodies such as the Senate, Syndicate, and Academic Council, as well as managing university elections.

Administrative oversight across various university functions, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining high standards of governance.
